Ao Thalane: Mangroves, Limestone Cliffs & Hidden Lagoons

In the morning, your driver and English-speaking local guide meet you in the lobby of your hotel in Krabi.
You then travel to Ao Thalane, located around 20 kilometres from Krabi. The route follows the coast towards a landscape where sea, mangrove forest and limestone formations come together.
Before entering the water, your guide provides a short introduction to basic kayaking techniques and the relevant safety instructions.

You then begin paddling through the winding waterways of Thalane Bay. As you move deeper into the mangroves, the landscape opens onto imposing limestone gorges, secluded coves and naturally protected lagoons.
The area supports a wide variety of wildlife. Depending on conditions, you may see monkeys moving through the trees, together with herons, kingfishers and lizards.
The experience unfolds at a relaxed pace, allowing time to take in the vegetation, wildlife and stillness of the surroundings.

After returning to the village pier, a lunch at a local restaurant is included before the shared transfer back to your hotel in Krabi.
Meal included: lunch

Our on-the-ground commitments

At Hilaire Expériences, we place particular care in the way each journey is conceived and delivered on the ground.

We favour local partners who share a more responsible approach to travel, with particular attention paid to preserving the environments we visit, respecting local communities and ensuring that tourism contributes positively to the destinations in which we operate.

A number of our experiences are operated by partners working in accordance with recognised standards such as Travelife and ChildSafe, with a continued focus on managing their environmental and social impact responsibly.

We are also progressively reducing the use of single-use plastics across selected programmes. Wherever possible, disposable bottles are being replaced by refillable solutions and drinking-water refill points available in hotels and aboard our vehicles.
